The Indonesian Society of Botanical Artists (IDSBA) invites all members to submit their artworks to participate in our botanical art exhibition “RAGAM FLORA INDONESIA 5: Nusantara’s National Treasures” at Bogor Botanic Gardens as a part of Botanical Art Worldwide 2025. This project is created to celebrate biodiversity in the crops that have been closely associated with humans, especially those native to Indonesia. We hope to draw awareness to the vast variety of food and useful plants available, including those cultivated for food, textiles, building, energy, and medicine.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

SUBMISSION:
- Participants are active IDSBA members that reside in Indonesia or in a country that does not have an organization participating in the Botanical Art Worldwide
- Each artist is allowed to submit a maximum of 5 works.
- Upload proof of payment for a Rp. 100.000,- registration fee during online registrations.
- Accepted artworks will incur an exhibition fee of Rp. 250.000,- each
- Please upload an accurately representative file of scanned artwork, 300 dpi minimum and not more than 4 Mb, without any signature or watermark. Make sure each artwork file is named as follows: Artist Name_Scientific Name. A higher-quality
file with the Artists’ signature will be required after the announcement of the

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Subject of the artwork: Plant species or natural hybrids native to Indonesia or cultivars developed from Indonesian native plants. Each plant must be accompanied by its correct scientific name and/or cultivar name, if applicable.
Categories:
- Heritage crops/traditionally cultivated plants (through selection, hybridization, and propagation) known for 50 years or more. This does not include large-scale monoculture agricultural crops.
- Wild plant relatives of cultivated plants, i.e., wild species that can be crossed with cultivated plants to produce new characteristics or wild plants that can be foraged.
- Ancient crops that have been cultivated by humans for hundreds or even thousands of years in the same form.
- Minimum size: ⅛ imperial (approximately 19 x 28 cm) or A4 Maximum size: Imperial (approximately 56 x 76 cm) or A1
- Technique: Manual and digital (digital artworks will not be included in the 40 artworks as part of the Botanical Art Worldwide collection).
- Media: Any 2D media, including but not limited to watercolor, colored pencil, gouache, acrylic paint, oil paint, ink-pen, graphite, mixed media, etc.
- The artwork must not have been displayed in Ragam Flora Indonesia 1-4 exhibitions.
- The artwork can be created by more than one artist (collaboration).
- Each artwork is accompanied by a short narrative that may include personal experiences with the plant, its unique features, reasons for choosing this particular subject, its value or history in connection to the human race.
- Each Artist must ensure that their artwork does not infringe any copyright.
EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Artists are responsible for the availability of each artwork to be displayed during the exhibition (May 18th – June 30th, 2025).
- Artworks must be ready to display, packaged safely and received by the exhibition committee in Jakarta/Bogor by May 3rd, 2025. Participating artists will be notified for further details.
- For artwork on paper, it is advisable to use a passepartout/mat and acrylic cover (not glass) for the safety of the artwork during transportation. Frame color should be neutral/natural.
- Artists are also responsible for the costs of delivery and return of their artwork. The Exhibition committee will use the original packaging of each artwork to return it after the exhibition. IDSBA will not be liable for any loss or damage of artworks during delivery or outside of the exhibition period. Artists are highly suggested to insure their artwork.
- Artists may allow the sale of their artwork during this exhibition, in which the price shall be determined by the Artist. Sold artworks will be subjected to a 35% commission fee, and must remain displayed throughout the length of the exhibition.
- By submitting their artworks, Artists agree to allow IDSBA to use accepted artworks for promotional material, educational reference, catalog and IDSBA’s website with full credit to the Artist.
